Money Maker by Hold Fast Gear

If you are the kind of person who appreciates high quality products that are stylish and functional then the Money Maker strap is probably for you.
The Money Maker is a luxury hand made leather camera strap designed to hold and access 1, 2, or 3 cameras with speed and comfort, and I can tell you, it does exactly that with great design and stylish looks.

There are a few other 2 camera straps out there, probably the most popular being the black rapid double, but there aren’t many 3 camera straps.  While the Black Rapid straps are certainly functional, they have the same ballistic nylon approach as just about all other straps.  The Money Maker is in a different league with its high quality leather and solid metal loops and fasteners.  The clasps have a strong spring that takes a good effort to move, giving a reassuring feeling that it could not unclip accidentally.  The strap features an additional fastener which appears to be a backup in the event the main clasp failed. Some people may want the comfort of the extra safety, but I’m happy to just go with the main clasp.

The strap is adjustable for size and preference of camera position and really is comfortable to wear.  It takes the weight of heavier bodies very well and is comfortable for long periods, ideal for shooting events, weddings and reportage.

I have used this strap at a number of events and weddings and it works well under a suit jacket, allowing the cameras to hang just at the lower edge.  I normally use in partnership with a Cosyspeed camslinger bag (which I will do a separate review) which is basically a belt with a pouch which sits low so it doesn’t interfere with suit jackets etc. This allows me a lot of freedom and movement as I have both cameras instantly available with spare lenses, batteries etc on my hip without the need for camera bags.

The version I bought is a ‘bridle chestnut’ and is the cheapest option coming in at $215.  Quality and price increase as you move up the range to water buffalo, bison and hand tooled specials.  These really are great looking straps with different colours and finishes to suit your style.  I bought mine while on a trip to New York as I couldn’t find a supplier in the UK, and while Hold Fast Gear and B&H both ship to the UK, the shipping cost and import tax can easily add on more than 50% of the strap price!  It would be great to see a distributer in the UK as I believe these products would be very popular.

I can whole-heartedly recommend the MoneyMaker camera strap and I believe it is worth paying a bit extra for this premium product. I have went through a lot of different straps over the years and this is the first one which ‘feels right’ for me and I love it!  I have always been the same with camera bags too, buying new models and different designs but never really being content with any, I’m hoping the small bison ‘roamographer’ will be be the bag solve this, check out the rest of their products at www.holdfastgear.com
